The founders of TCF Investment

David Norman and Gary Mairs launched TCF Investment in 2009 highlighting to provide advisers and their customers with smart, low cost, long term investment solutions.

Having each spent more than 20 years working for a range of specialist financial services companies they became increasingly concerned with the poor way that investors were treated.

Costs have risen and become less transparent, risks of increasing complexity passed onto investors, and sound investment principles discarded and replaced by trendy schemes that enrich the manager rather than the customer.

We use simple, proven investment thinking combined with rigorous risk management and a passionate dislike of costs to deliver great long term products for investors of any size.

It is simple yet smart, it low cost yet high value, it is straightforward yet expert.

Gary was born in Shropshire in 1967 and joined the investment industry after studying Economics at Trinity College Cambridge. After an early career as a fund manager he moved into senior executive management for a number of asset managers. Most recently he was CEO, Insight Investment, Retail. He is married with two children and lives in Kent. He is currently studying Astro-physics in his spare time.

David (known as DAN) was born in Norwich in 1962. He moved into financial services in 1986 after an early career with GEC having studied Chemistry. He held a number of senior sales and marketing roles with both life companies and asset managers, and most recently was CEO Credit Suisse Asset Management (UK & Ireland). He is married with two daughters and lives in Kent. He is an associate of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment and a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing. He goes fishing in his spare time!
